Elder Chris Silvey was under the convicting hand of the Lord for nearly a year before the Lord saved his soul at the age of 13. In October of 1994, at the age of 26, the Lord called him to be a minister of the Gospel. He was licensed to preach by authority of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Granite Bay, CA that very month and began preaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On December 7, 1997, the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Sacramento, CA called Elder Silvey to pastor. He was ordained by the authority of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Granite Bay, CA under the leadership of Pastor Rick Perdue, and began serving as pastor immediately. On December 11, 2005, Pastor Silvey completed his 8th year of pastoring at Friendship MBC and became the longest single tenured pastor in the church's 59 year history. He continues to Pastor to this day.

Pastor Silvey attributes his early training to his parents, the late JoAnna Silvey and the late Elder and former Pastor Thomas William Silvey. He credits Elder Rick Perdue for his training in Homiletics, OT and NT Survey. He co-taught the Articles of Faith and basic bible fundamentals to the new converts at Landmark until he left to pastor Friendship.
